Switzerland-based non-life reinsurer SIGNAL IDUNA Reinsurance Ltd (SI Re) has announced the appointment of Lukas Cizek as underwriting manager for Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), effective mid-March 2026.
Cizek will succeed Nicolas Schmidhauser, underwriting manager for Eastern Europe, who will retire on March 31, 2026.
Since joining SI Re in 2009, Schmidhauser has played a key role in growing the company’s business in Central and Eastern Europe and was instrumental in establishing SI Re’s operations in Switzerland, Italy and Iberia.
Cizek has more than two decades of reinsurance underwriting experience and has extensive experience in underwriting, portfolio management and client relationship management.
Most recently, he served as underwriter for VIG Re in Prague, responsible for VIG Group’s Central and Eastern European investment portfolio. Previously, he spent many years at Aon, focusing on managing reinsurance treaty arrangements in Poland and Central and Eastern Europe.
