Canopius appoints Adrian Phipps as Chief People Officer

Global specialist property and casualty re/insurer Canopius Group has announced the appointment of Adrian Phipps as chief people officer, effective June 2026.

Phipps will succeed chief human resources officer Barbara Turner, who will retire later this year after more than a decade with the organization.

In his new role, Phipps will lead Canopius’ people strategy with a focus on talent development, culture and supporting the company’s continued growth. He will report to group chief executive Neil Robertson.

He is an accomplished people and human resources leader with more than two decades of multi-functional leadership experience. Previously, Phipps held a number of leadership roles, including Director of People and Organization at Arqiva and HR Director of RSA UK Personal Insurance.

Robertson said: “We believe Canopius can become a truly great company, built on outstanding performance and powered by outstanding people. That is why we are so excited to welcome Adrian at this important time – we are committed to investing significantly in bringing in new talent and developing talent across our business. Adrian’s leadership will be invaluable as we build our star team.”

“I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to Barbara Turner for her outstanding leadership of Canopius Group Human Resources for nearly a decade – she has had a profound impact on our culture and organization.”

Phipps commented: “I am delighted to join Canopius and its leadership team at a time of such tremendous progress and ambition for Canopius. I have been impressed by the positive, dynamic culture Canopius has built in recent years and I look forward to helping shape the next phase of our talent strategy.”
