The 4,600-square-meter two-story facility is completed as planned, and will begin testing immediately and establish operations by mid-2022 to meet all global emission standards.

Bentley Motors announced that its new, state-of-the-art engineering test center will begin operations after obtaining formal approval from the British vehicle certification body. This latest investment, located at Bentley’s headquarters in Crewe, England, was made after the Carbon Trust’s recent recertification, marking three years as a carbon neutral site.

The independent authoritative certification represents another big step for the company towards electrification, which is a key pillar of Bentley’s Beyond100 strategy to become the world’s most sustainable car manufacturer. Crucially, this 12.5 million pound center will enable Bentley to more quickly execute the latest WLTP fuel consumption and efficiency testing procedures in-house.

The 4,600-square-meter two-story facility is completed as planned and will begin testing immediately, and will begin operations by mid-2022 to meet all global emission standards. The new structure includes 773 square meters of office and 1,550 square meters of office space. Instrument used to install climate control chassis dynamometer.

This highly advanced rolling road allows engineers to simulate hillsides of different slopes and measure the exhaust emissions of internal combustion engine vehicles, or the electrical energy consumption of hybrid and future electric vehicles. “Real world” simulation can also be done in a temperature range from -20 degrees Celsius to +50 degrees Celsius

Bentley’s technical compliance department is responsible for the compliance of all Bentley products and will be located in the new center. There will also be a dedicated laboratory to run Real Driving Emissions (RDE) using the latest and most advanced portable emission measurement system. In total, the new facility will accommodate 100 Bentley colleagues.
