Global insurance company AXA Hong Kong & Macau has successfully completed the relocation of AXA China Regional Insurance (Bermuda) Limited from Bermuda to Hong Kong.
This move is in line with the relocation system implemented by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government. Since then, the company has been renamed AXA China Insurance (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd., effective January 26, 2026.
This move is in line with AXA’s ongoing commitment to serving regional clients and reaffirms Hong Kong’s status as an important financial centre. As one of the first insurers to make this move, the insurer explained that the move also solidifies its long-term presence and enhances its operational capabilities.
After completing the relocation in Hong Kong, the company plans to apply to the relevant Macau authorities to update the name of its Macau branch in the week of February 2, 2026.
Sally Wan, CEO of AXA China, said: “The relocation highlights our strong confidence in Hong Kong’s strategic importance and growth potential, and reflects our unwavering commitment to serving our clients with resilience and innovation.
“Leveraging Hong Kong’s strong economy and its status as a regional insurance and risk management hub, we believe AXA will continue to achieve long-term success. Going forward, we will remain committed to creating long-term value for our customers, partners and communities, while actively pursuing sustainable growth.”
The Hong Kong Insurance Authority said: “The Insurance Authority welcomes AXA’s relocation to Hong Kong under the company redomiciliation regime. The addition of re-domiciled insurance companies solidifies Hong Kong’s strong attractiveness as an international financial center and the industry’s commitment to contributing to Hong Kong’s role as a regional insurance centre.”
“We will continue to work closely with all parties to allow interested insurance companies to relocate their domiciles to Hong Kong under the system, supporting the government’s vision of strengthening the headquarters economy.”
