Atrium names James Lakin as Head of Outwards Reinsurance

Atrium, a leading specialist insurer owned by Lloyd’s, has announced the appointment of James Lakin as Head of Outward Reinsurance.

In this role, he will lead the design and deployment of Atrium’s outward reinsurance program, ensuring the strategy supports the company’s risk appetite, capital objectives and long-term profitability.

Lakin moves to Atrium after 12 years with MS Amlin, where he worked in the reinsurance team, most recently as co-head of Outwards Reinsurance. Earlier in his career, he worked at QBE.

Atrium CEO John Fowle said: “Atrium is committed to delivering market-leading returns to our capital providers and our long-term partnerships with reinsurers are key to delivering on this commitment.

“As geopolitical volatility and structural changes continue to impact markets, a disciplined reinsurance approach, strong partnerships and a clear risk focus have never been more important. I am delighted to welcome James to Atrium. His expertise will make a significant contribution to the Group’s continued success.”

Lakin added: “I’m delighted to be joining Atrium and contributing to their market-leading business. Atrium is a strong brand that shines in the Lloyd’s market; there are huge opportunities and times ahead.”
