According to reports, TSMC signed a contract with Bitmain, so the company can use the foundry’s N5 manufacturing process (5 nanometers). At present, the fastest Bitcoin mining machine on the market carefully built by companies such as Bitmain, Canaan and Microbt uses chips between 12nm and 7nm.

Bitmain may be trying to acquire 5nm products and then sell out all the chips. Huge technology companies such as Apple and Huawei are already buying chips made with TSMC’s N5 process.

Although, because Bitmain can produce capital faster than small technology companies, it may be one of the first companies to purchase N5 design products. However, other Bitcoin ASIC mining manufacturers and technology companies can also purchase 5nm products from Samsung.

Samsung also revealed that it is using a 5nm process and that the company is reportedly accepting future orders. A researcher comparing TSMC and Samsung products said that the two companies will “use more EUV layers at 5nm.”

“Samsung said that their 5nm process is 25% higher than the 7nm density, 10% higher in performance, and 20% lower in power consumption,” Scotten Jones called it “comparison between TSMC and Samsung 5nm.” “This is in sharp contrast to TSMC’s announced density increase of 1.8 times, a 15% increase in performance or a 30% reduction in power consumption,” Jones added.

The company’s latest version of Antminer S19j mining equipment has a hash rate of approximately 90 TH/s. The Antminer S19 model uses a customized 7nm chip with an efficiency parameter of approximately 34.5 Joules per terahera (J/TH). The TH/s speed of Bitcoin ASIC mining equipment using 5nm chips is much faster, and the energy efficiency is up to (J/TH).
