Amazon said on Wednesday that Amazon Web Services (AWS), Amazon’s widely used cloud service, is being shut down on a large scale, affecting users from websites to software providers.

The company said this also affects the ability to post updates to its service health dashboard.

An AWS spokesperson said in a statement: “This morning, the Kinesis error rate in the eastern United States continued to increase, which has affected some other AWS services. We are working to resolve the issue.”

Amazon Kinesis is part of its cloud products that collect, process and analyze real-time data and provide insights.

Video streaming equipment manufacturer Roku, Adobe’s Spark platform, video hosting site Flickr and the “Baltimore Sun” have all been severely damaged.

The newspaper wrote on Twitter: “Due to the AWS outage, our website and publishing system are experiencing intermittent problems.”

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the higher demand for Amazon from companies migrating to virtual offices, Amazon’s cloud service business is booming.
