Amazon India officially established Amazon Academy on Wednesday as its educational technology company in India. The new product is essentially a renaming of the JEE Ready application that debuted in December 2019. It is currently designed for aspiring engineering college students who are preparing for IIT-JEE and other engineering entrance exams. It is touted to provide selected study materials as well as live lectures and assessments in mathematics, physics and chemistry. Media reports indicate that Amazon’s Indian subsidiary has been trialing Amazon Academy in the country for several months.
The company said in a statement that the learning materials and exam content provided by Amazon Academy were developed by experts from all over the country. The content resources available on this platform are designed to help students not only prepare for JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) engineering exams, but also prepare for BITSAT, VITEEE, SRMJEEE and MET engineering tests.
Amazon Academy is said to have well-designed simulation tests involving more than 15,000 carefully selected questions and tips from industry experts. It also conducts on-site All India Simulation Tests (AIMT) at scheduled intervals. In addition, students can also schedule lessons or access daily practice questions. There is also a six-week crash course option for the next JEE main exam.
To help engineering students improve their grades, Amazon Academy provides a way to track progress over time and identify strengths and weaknesses. It also provides insights on the overall exam strategy.
The platform also allows students to evaluate their test performance through personalized reports with chapter time and intensity analysis. There are also options to view the current progress and compare it with other JEE aspiring people trying to test at Amazon Academy at the same time.
Amazon initially provided content for free through Amazon Academy, although it may introduce pricing structures over time-depending on how successful the platform is.
“Our main focus is on content quality, deep learning analysis and student experience. This release will help engineering aspirants better prepare and gain a winning advantage in JEE.” Amazon India Education Director Amol Gurwara said. We have developed a plan to provide educational technology content for non-engineering subjects and will update this space when we hear back.
The Beta version of Amazon Academy can be used via the Web or via the Android applications listed on Google Play.
In addition to Amazon Academy, Amazon is currently in development to launch its childhood-to-career program “Engineers of the Future” in the country. It was discovered last month that a manager was hired to lead the program, and it plans to start operations later this year.
According to a report by Omidyar Network India and RedSeer, by 2022, the field of educational technology for students in grades 1-12 in India will grow sixfold, reaching US$1.7 billion (approximately 124.39 billion rupees). Large technology companies including Google and Facebook are also focusing on this area, the latter has invested in Bangalore-based startup Unacademy.
