Amazon’s voice assistant Alexa, which supports its Echo devices, has now been updated with the latest features related to COVID-19 for users in India. Alexa will now be able to help users find COVID-19 testing and vaccination centers, as well as details about the availability of vaccination. Amazon said the information came from real sources, including the CoWIN portal, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare website, and MapmyIndia. Users can also choose to use Alexa commands to donate to COVID-19 benefits in India. COVID-19-related features were launched in the United States in April.
With the help of New Delhi-based MapmyIndia, Amazon said that Alexa can now find the nearest COVID-19 testing center and provide the distance to it. Users can start by asking questions such as “Where can Alexa be tested for COVID-19?” Amazon explained that Alexa can register the user’s device to identify the user’s location and provide a list of vaccination centers near them. The user can use this information to schedule a time to visit the CoWIN portal to make an appointment.
By entering the PIN code and age in the vaccine information Alexa skills, users can use Alexa to search for anyone’s vaccination centers. This function is convenient if users want to check the vaccine availability of their friends or family members in different geographic locations. If the vaccine is not available at the time of the check, you can also set a reminder to check its availability later.
In addition, you can also ask Alexa to provide the latest information on the completion rate of vaccines in India, and clear user questions about COVID-19 vaccination, such as vaccine safety, registration process, and COVID-19 helpline in each state Number.
Alexa will also provide users with an option to donate to COVID-19 benefits in India. Amazon has partnered with Indian NGOs such as Akshaya Patra, Give India, and Goong. By saying “Alexa, donate now,” users will receive an app notification and a text message with a link to donate to their preferred NGO.
In April of this year, Amazon launched these features exclusively in the United States. Amazon said that Alexa answered tens of millions of questions related to COVID-19 last year. The company said that Alexa can answer questions about vaccine availability and eligibility requirements in more than 85 countries.
