Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition is getting a new downloadable content (DLC) update called Knights of the Mediterranean. The game developers announced that the new DLC will add two new civilizations, 30 new random maps, nine new minor civilizations, and two game modes. For the Knights of the Mediterranean DLC, players will have to spend an additional Rs. 349. The DLC is available for pre-order at the Microsoft Store and Steam, with a release date of May 26.
What’s new in the DLC
The developers of Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition have announced the Knights of the Mediterranean DLC update, which introduces several additions to the existing game, such as new civilizations, maps, and game modes.
The two new additional game modes offered by the DLC are Diplomacy and Tycoon. Diplomacy allows players to change allegiance mid-match and lets them negotiate with other players. Tycoons, on the other hand, focus on building the economy. In Tycoon, players don’t have to maintain an army or defend against a full-scale siege.
The new DLC will offer two new civilizations to compete with, the Italians and the Maltese.
With Italian Civilization, players will get a free settler with various technologies, economic buildings can study them in any era. In addition to this, there are two new buildings, Basilica (I, 200w 200c) and Lombard (I, 100w 100c).
Maltese civilization, on the other hand, started with a master. Units in this civilization gain additional health each time they are transported and regenerate health when idle. Four unique buildings are available, Hospital (II, 100W), Headquarters (II, 250W 100C), Warehouse (II, 50W 50C) and Stationary Gun (III, 100W 600C).
In addition to the new civilizations, players will also get eight new historical maps, the Italian War, Eighty Years’ War, Great Flood, Great Turkish War, Great Northern War, Napoleonic War, Russo-Turkish War, and Thirty Years’ War. is a multiplayer-only map.
There are also nine new European royal houses, the Bourbons, Wittelsbachs, Oldenburgs, Hanoverians, Fanaus, Jagiellonians, Vassars, Habsburgs and Wettings dynasty.
The Knights of the Mediterranean DLC is currently available for pre-order on the Microsoft Store and Steam for Rs. 349 over the base game, which will be released later this month on May 26. The third installment of Age of Empires: Definitive Edition launched in October 2020 and has since received four DLC updates. The base game without DLC currently retails for Rs. 529 on Steam.
