Maruti Suzuki will launch the new Brezza subcompact SUV in India today. Pre-orders for the SUV are now open for Rs 11,000. Ahead of the launch, Maruti has revealed new details about its upcoming model, including confirmation of some of its new features as well as engine and details. The automaker also confirmed that the new-generation SUV will simply be called the Brezza, with the Vitara prefix now dropped. While the car’s design is still under wraps, photos of the unabashed model have surfaced online, giving a clear look at the SUV’s styling. The new Brezza retains the boxy and upright proportions of the outgoing Vitara Brezza, although the body shell is new. The front features new headlamps with J-shaped DRLs, flanked by a larger grille and a thicker front bumper highlighted with black cladding and faux skid plate elements.

The new Brezza retains its boxy and upright proportions, albeit with a significant design revision.

From the side, the model appears to lack a well-defined shoulder line that runs the length of the car near the door handles, and the glass house is also new and longer than the old model. At the rear, new slim taillights and a chunky rear bumper complete the look.

The cabin will also be all-new, with the dash now getting a more layered design compared to the outgoing model. The touchscreen is a separate unit atop the center console, while parts like climate control and are shared with the likes of the new Baleno. Maruti has already confirmed some of the technology available, including a head-up display, SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system with connectivity technology, a 360-degree camera and a sunroof.

Maruti also confirmed that the new Brezza will be powered by the company’s latest 1.5-liter DualJet gasoline engine. The unit uses mild-hybrid technology and is expected to output 102 hp and 135 Nm – the same as the Ertiga. Meanwhile, options will include a 5-speed manual and a new 6-speed torque-converter automatic.
